David Lawson knows that our state is going to have to make some critical decisions in the next couple of years. He is ready to take charge and bring up key issues in the Connecticut General Assembly.
Budget & Jobs
Companies are leaving Connecticut and the state is over-burdened with an unbalanced budget. David supports short-term and long-term plans through investment in enhanced infrastructure that will attract new business to our state, and meet the needs of existing Connecticut-based businesses.
Domestic violence and gun violence is an ongoing problem here in Connecticut and across the country. David will introduce legislation for sensible gun legislation to remove weapons from the scene of a domestic violence incident. And, of course, first responders must be fully funded.
People have a right to affordable health care. David supports the expansion of Medicaid and Husky, funding for mental health and the development of effective protocols to deal with opiate, drug, and alcohol abuse.
To ensure that all people have access to a high-quality, affordable education, David will work to freeze college tuitions, subsidize community college costs, fund vocational and technical programs, and support school security initiatives.
The rollback of environmental protections by the current federal administration is alarming. David will work tirelessly to preserve our farmlands, open spaces, rivers and lakes, and the value of our air. Our natural resources are the reason why the Northwest Corner is so special to citizens and visitors alike. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to protect them.
