A history teacher at Dover High School in Dover Plains, N.Y., for 33 years, David Lawson is in his fourth term on the New Milford Board of Education, where he is currently the board chair.
David was raised in western New York State. After graduating from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, he started his teaching career while spending his summers in Kent, Conn., at KenMont/KenWood Camps as a counselor. It was there that he fell in love with northwest Connecticut and met his future wife Lisa.
When they decided to marry, the Lawsons knew they wanted to settle in New Milford where they have lived since 1988. Lisa works at the Devereaux Foundation in Washington, Conn., and the couple has two grown children: Benjamin, who recently graduated with a joint BA/MS from Boston University and Jennifer who is attending medical school at the University of Connecticut.
An avid hockey fan, David looks forward to representing the 30th Senate District in Hartford.
